ABOUT BARU
Hi there and welcome to Serving Ayurveda!

I'm Baru, and my journey to Ayurveda began in the charming streets of Prague. Growing up in an agnostic family, I was captivated by Eastern philosophies and cultures—spending hours in cozy tearooms and being drawn to the infectious joy of Hare Krishna practitioners I'd often encounter in the city center. When personal challenges arose in my early twenties, yoga became my sanctuary, bringing a sense of awareness and wholeness that completely transformed my perspective.

In 2018, my curiosity about Yoga led me to India, where I became a certified yoga teacher and fell head over heels in love with Vedic culture. It was there that I first discovered the magic of Ayurveda—an introduction that sparked a passion I couldn't ignore. Back in Amsterdam, I dove deeper into this ancient wisdom by enrolling in Delight Academy's Ayurvedic Practitioner Training in 2019.

Fast forward to today—I've traded Amsterdam's canals for the stunning coastline of Costa Blanca, Spain, where I settled in the summer of 2024. With the Mediterranean sunshine as my backdrop, I've expanded my practice to include retreat cooking, Ayurvedic cooking workshops, and comprehensive nutrition and lifestyle guidance.

With over a decade of experience as a chef and as a certified Ayurvedic nutritional guide, I bring a unique blend of culinary creativity and ancient wisdom to everything I do. My approach is simple: I want to make Ayurveda accessible and joyful for everyone!
Whether you're joining one of the retreats I cook for, participating in a cooking workshop, or seeking personalized guidance, my goal is to help you integrate Ayurvedic principles into your life in ways that feel natural and sustainable.

I truly believe that the connection between our minds, bodies, and what we eat is profound—and I'm here to walk alongside you on this journey. Together, we'll discover practical ways to nurture this connection, bringing more balance and vitality into your everyday life. Let's create something beautiful and lasting together!
WHAT Ayurveda means to me
Ayurveda is far more than an ancient system of healing—it's a beautiful, living wisdom that invites us to rediscover our innate connection to ourselves and the universe. Originating in India over 5,000 years ago, this holistic approach isn't about rigid rules, but about finding joy and a sense of profound love and contentment in our daily practices. For me, Ayurveda has become a powerful tool of personal empowerment, a way of taking responsibility for our health and lives that goes beyond any agenda except promoting and preserving life itself.

One of the most profound teachings of Ayurveda is its gentle reminder of our fundamental connection to nature—a truth we've become tragically divorced from in our Western society. It teaches us that we are not separate from the natural world, but an integral part of its intricate, rhythmic cycles. Just as nature moves through seasons, so do we. Our bodies, our emotions, our energy—they ebb and flow like rivers, like leaves, like the moon. Ayurveda invites us to attune ourselves to these natural rhythms, to listen to the wisdom of the earth that pulses within and around us.
At its core, Ayurveda recognizes that each of us is a unique cosmic combination. The concept of individual constitution—or doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha)—isn't about categorization, but about understanding our inherent nature. These doshas are like gentle guideposts, helping us navigate our physical, mental, and emotional landscapes with greater awareness and compassion.

The beautiful dance between Ayurveda and yoga has always fascinated me. They're not just practices, but pathways of reconnection—helping us remember the ancient wisdom that already resides within us. Both practices share a profound goal of creating balance and harmony, offering us tools to strengthen our bodies, calm our minds, and nurture our spirits. There's a delightful sense of humor in the ancient scripts that reminds us we're all part of a grand, cosmic play—inviting us to take ourselves a little less seriously while diving deep into self-understanding.
What makes Ayurveda truly transformative is its invitation to awareness. It gently guides us back to ourselves, helping us listen to our bodies, understand our minds, and honor our spirits. It's not about perfection, but about creating a loving, mindful relationship with our entire being—a journey of continuous learning, healing, and connection to the great, interconnected web of life.
